    Angry

My GD computer crashed this morning, and I just got it to a minimally operational state about 2 hours ago. Here's the inventory lost :

About 400 MB of Napster downloads
50 MB of Word documents and pictures
10 MB of C++/VB code that I wrote
and some porn, but we don't need to discuss that...
*crptcblade, sits at home looking down in shame,
then he realizes that nobody's there*

But, anyway, its all cause of this stupidass desktop lock that totally seized my hard drive. I got up to the Windows intro screen (at boot up), and then the floppy drive light came on, and it just sat there.

And then my dad comes in and all the bastard had to say was "Hehe, ya should have backed it up boy, hehe!" Quite the compassionate man, my father...

Cool Thank you for your simpathy my brother...

Can you believe it, I installed a lock called Desktop Shield to keep people off my computer, and then the piece of crap wouldn't let me in!

I wish... For some reason, the last time I could actually boot into Windows, the software locked up the system, no CTRL+ALT+DEL, nothing. So I turned off the power, and turned it back on. Then I got the manufacturer's splash screen, E-machines in this case, and then the Windows ME splash screen, the one that looks like its drawn in DOS, where all the words are blurry, and there it stayed. So the best I could do is get into the BIOS and screw around, but it didn't help at all.

Did you try to boot a Win98 start disk and restore the files usig Norton unerase.exe? You can probably access them like that (in DOS mode) ... *trying to help* If they are locked you may find a unlock program for DOS...

I've found setting myself on fire and jumping out the window helps sometimes

might not work for everyone though

Is this thing to be attempted before pushing you
down the window or after setting you on fire ?

I would say before the window, rather difficult to start a fire when the individual involved is decending at a high rait of speed towards the earth

Actually a Fire can spread quickly if it has a large flow of
Air...such as while dropping outside windows.

True, but for the fire to spread effectively, you must start the fire at a place lower than your head..... your crotch would work nicely for this purpose

Be kinda painful though...not to mention the fact that I doubt it's future-proof

guess it would depend on the rate of speed, i was thinking if the person in question jumps from lets say a really tall building he may reach a rate of speed causing there to be a lack of oxygen

If you set yourself on fire, and jump out the window, you shouldn't be allowed to have children...

And not much prospect of it if you follow Dennis' instructions

I think though if i were on fire and plummetting(spelling) towards the ground i wouldn't be that overly concerned with having children

Could be an interesting prospect -- making / having children whilst falling towards the ground in flames

Could be a contender for the Darwin Award
