Could this work?
FairTax
If it could work that would be a huge change in our society. Thoughts?

Re: Could this work?
Income tax was introduced in the early 20th century during WWI as a temporary thing untill war is over. You know the rest... It's about time.

It sounds good in a perfect world, but you could say the same thing about communism. The end result works, but getting there is the hard part.

Who said it does at all? Where did get that idea from?

I was reffering to the Flat Tax, not the temporary income tax.
I don't want to get into a debate about communism. I was just using it as a comparison. I'm not for or against it.

Never try to compare things you don't understand - that is my point. I don't care much about that tax related stuff - it's not going to happend anyway (well, not any time soon).
Cheers.

Re: Could this work?
Sounds good in theory, but wouldn't this make tax income (for the government) directly proportional to spending habits? Thus if we stop spending their tax will decrease whereas at the moment they get a pretty constant flow of tax income

But the point is that we wouldn't stop spending.

Ok, that's borderline trolling. Just because I'm not for or against it doesn't mean I don't understand it. It looks good on paper, but isn't realistic. That was my only point and comparison between the two.
To prevent a possible public flame-war, I'm bowing out. If you would like to discuss this further, message me and I'll read it (I'm giving you full permission, I won't report it as harassment). And going forward, please don't tell me what I understand and don't understand if it doesn't pertain to code. I, like many of us, respect and appreciate the help you provide. But these are opinions and I'm willing to respect yours if you can do the same in return.

Oh, please... Keep your temper - don't show it to nobody. And as grilkip said "chill out", relax and take it easy.
btw, no disrespect ever meant (if you care to know).
