    Re: Reps?

my question is..how do i search for "rep point system" and not find anything? I checked penagates sig and its not there..i though he wrote it to begin with..It really needs a sticky or something.

Also, whats the point of the FAQ thing if all they do is dissapear? Why not just have them show up? Doesnt make sense to me.

I click the Forum FAQ Link at the top of the page, and searched for "reputation' and found a bunch of things.

    Re: Reps?

Penagate and I wrote the thread thats in UtilityBank - Tutorials and Brad just took a small part of it to put in the FAQ. Like I posted, to get all the info you need to view the Tutorial thread.

    Re: Reps?

While I was in a spring-cleaning mood, I moved all the links from my signature into a separate thread which I link to - it's the only link in my sig. I don't think I missed the FAQ threads in there...

I guess if by "disappear" you mean the fact that the UtilityBank forum only shows the threads from the last week or so, you have a point - maybe the default cutoff age should be unlimited for those forums.

I was under the impression that this was already the case (default view = from "the beginning")- do you see different?

    Re: Reps?

I never see anything but the stickies when I go in there, I always have to select "from beginning" to view the threads. That may be to do with my options, I'll check them.

    Re: Reps?

My bad, I had the default forum view set to show threads from the last week only. Changing it to "use forum default" fixed the problem.

    Re: Reps?

Ah, I see the confusion. You were thinking of the "VB FAQ Forum", but the others were talking about the "Forum FAQ" - how to use VBForums (posting replies, code tags etc).

We decided to have only the stickies visible in the VB FAQ Forum as they are the index to all of the other posts. If you search the VB FAQ forum, all results will be shown as normal - it is only the initial view that is set (and can be changed by using the controls under the thread list).

I do indeed - you'll have to be very quick to see a thread before it is in the index

    CursorXP

The tooltip is always below my cursor and it doesn't disappear when you take a screenshot.

    Re: Reps?

Hang on, I think I've found a problem!
When I hover over RD's gems it says 400+ but according to the one bright green gem he should be in the 500+ group!?!

    Re: Reps?

In the reps tutorial, you will find the list of all the levels at which the tooltip description changes. 500 is not, for whatever reason, one of them.

    Re: Reps?

That's only a section of the tutorial that made it in to the FAQ page.

The complete tutorial as written by RobDog and myself is here.

    In particular:
The tooltip text changes for certain levels of points. The list of these points and the accompanying tooltip text is below:

<-50 = [User] is infamous around these parts
-050 = [User] can only hope to improve
-010 = [User] has a little shameless behaviour in the past
0000 = [User] is an unknown quantity at this point
0010 = [User] is on a distinguished road
0050 = [User] will become famous soon enough
0100 = [User] has a spectacular aura about
0200 = [User] is a jewel in the rough
0400 = [User] is a glorious beacon of light
0750 = [User] is a splendid one to behold
1000 = [User] is a name known to all
1500 = [User] has much to be proud of
    2000 = [User] has a brilliant future
3000 = [User] has a reputation beyond repute
As you can see the description will does not change until 750 rep points.

Okay, perhaps the other section should be modified accordingly as it's a bit confusing

Maybe the FAQ should have a link to the UtilityBank thread so you can get the complete information?
