Toolbar control stopped displaying button images

ok, visual basic isn't my bag, i'm more into c, but i've got a toolbar and an associated imagelist in visual basic. do you have any idea why the toolbar wouldn't show the imagelist associated with it?
it just stopped working one day, after 'installing windowless controls' and now looks real plain without the bold, italic, left, right, center and justify buttons! everything else (including the buttons themselves) are working great!
has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Ok, ok, i've answered my own question.
Just tell me why Microsoft chooses to put a number in the index field automagically, and request that you put the index in the image field!!! ie. you must place the index or key to the imagelist in the image field of the toolbar's 'button' properties, and the index they insert simply records the position of the button in the toolbar from left to right! duh.
