    Hard drive tester (Hardware)

I am looking for something to test the physical integrity of my hard drives. I have 7 of them in a server and I think one or so of them may be acting up (noise, corrupt file, etc)

Is there such a free software?

Dos 6.22's scandisc program would scan each bit on the platter looking for bad sectors. I still use it because it's fairly reliable, but for modern drives it would take forever to run. Be prepared to leave it over the weekend

Usually your HD manufacturer make a free diagnostics utility available for download from their website. It can do several tests and if there is a failure it usually presents an error code that is needed when you try to submit an RMA.

    Right, ...

Mator has their own diagnostics program called MaxBlast

    Western Digital has DataLifeguard

Samsung has a couple of utilities too

And here is a broad listing of the rest.
