Dell's computers work ok, that is all I own. The problem will come if you ever need support. I have found that if you need support for your dell computer you are probably better off Paying for it and getting it elsewhere.

Re: Dell Dimension 9300
Yea, I woulden't buy a dell... Unless it was a laptop.
I would recommend you do some research, and then build your own PC. Save alot of money, and can get better specs.
Or do what the other person said, go to a computer store and get them to build you one.

Re: Dell Dimension 9300
Dell has some pretty good deals, and they also have financing available. The problem is that they don't always use the best equipment inside of their cheaper units. I prefer to have a clone built most of the time, except for a laptop. I've had a few HP laptops, and liked them all.

Re: Dell Dimension 9300
The only reason I'm looking at a Dell is because none of the other manufaturers offer a high res display(ie:HP,IBM,Gateway).
I can't believe that this is true!!! Why wouldn't you even offer it as an upgrade?
And has far as building one, I certainly wouldn't want to attempt to build a laptop!! And as far as I know there isn't any local shops that will do it either.

Ask as many may provide such a service. If you're a paying customer they'll be happy to help

Re: Dell Dimension 9300
Pythagorus,
I have a dell 600m laptop with the upgraded screen resolution. I have had it about a year with no real problems. I will warn you that many of the Dell Laptops, including mine, have some heat issues. They tend to get very hot after prolonged use. The heat builds up under the laptop and also under your left hand when trying to use the mouse. Bear in mind that I am not talking about "warm" it gets downright HOT. Dell has refused to acknowledge the problem thus far despite the grumblings of thousands. The mouse will sometimes go a little haywire due to the heat. Otherwise, i have been satisfied with my dell laptop and have had no other issues.

Re: Dell Dimension 9300
Well I end up ordering the 9300 with all the goodies! It will be here on 11/11. I'll let you know if I like it.
P4 2.0 GHZ
1 GB Ram
60 GB 7200 RPM Harddrive
256MB Nvidia Graphics Card
17" WUXGA Display
DVD RW
Intel Wireless
How could you not be happy with all that!!!!
I wanted to get the 2 GB Ram but it brought the price up too high, I can always upgrade the RAM later.

Re: Dell Dimension 9300
$1520.00
That was with a special they were just offering:
Spend $1000 get $100 off
Spend $1500 get $250 off
Spend $2000 get $500 off
So I spent $2020.00, and got $500 off.
I thought it was a great deal!!!!

Too bad Alienware prices themselves right out of the market!
As far as customer service, I've heard good stories and bad stories. About the same you hear about any other company out there.
