    ADSL Router not working properly

    hi all!!

my D-Link ADSL Router (DSL-502T) is not working properly. In fact the PC is not able to detect it. It is also not visible in the Device Manager list.

I tried re-installing the router and re-installing its driver but to no avail.

could anyone please identify the problem and suggest a solution.

    thnx

Try hooking the router up to another computer to verify that the router is not completely dead, then if you verify that the router functions you can concentrate on the operating system.

Right now, based on what you have said, it sounds like you may have a dead router.

How are you hooking it up? Ethernet or USB? I have never seen a driver for a router, and used both types of connection. I found this page that may help.

No matter how it is connected you shouldn't see it from the PC. The router is like another computer on the network. USB is just a cheap fallback mode for when Ethernet is not available (so you should be using a LAN connection if you have one).

You can access it by navigating (in your browser) to the default IP address provided for it, which should be listed in the router manual. Usually there are different IPs depending on whether you used Ethernet or USB.
