No system tray icon on internet connection

    I connect using dial up.

So far, as soon as I connectd to internet, a small icon (computer) used to appear on system tray. By right clicking on which I used to get a Disconnect/Status menu.

From today suddenly that icon is not appearing in system tray - even though I can connect to internet successfully.

How can I restore that icon?

    Thanks for any help.

You haven't mentioned which version of Windows you are using, but this should be enough for you to find it:

Open the "Network Connections" window (in Control Panel, or under "Connect to" on the Start menu), then right-click on your connection and select properties. There should be a tick-box called something like "Show icon in notification area when connected", which you want ticked.

Look in properties of your start menu, to check if Hide Inactive Icons is checked. You can specify which ones you want to see displayed all the time, sometimes, or never.
