    request for sending files

i wish to notify that there are some people in the forums who ask if somebody can send them some missing files.

keeping track of files is everybody's own responsibility. loss of cds is not a very good excuse. so i'd like to request mods to add this topic to "read before you post" thread.

also there are people who ask people to get their coding checked and/or done by others. i believe we are here to help them in their logic and tell them how things are done, not to do their coding. asking for example code is a different thing but "can u do the code for me?", for me is not acceptable. someone saying how does this api work means he needs info on the api, i will and have done, uploaded a piece of code from the api guide at times. but i have this requirement, please do it for me is not very friendly is it?

    hope u consider my post.

    Re: request for sending files

"plz give code" and "do my homework" posters are a given element in these forums. They always pop up, but they never stick around very long due to the welcoming that they inevitably recieve from the regulars.

What you request would probably be ineffective, because of the nature of these posters. They don't put any effort into their problems, so they won't put any effort into researching the suggested policies of the forum.

However, it certainly wouldn't hurt to warn people to not become a "plz give code" poster in a "read before you post" thread.

BTW, What is wrong about people asking for missing files and/or a location whereby they could be procured?

the problem is that it is not the right thing to give away runtimes and activex files of some other program u bought. anyways, it wont work in others machine if the liscense agreement is not found. it would be just a waste of bandwidth wont it?

    Re: request for sending files

This issue is dealt with in the Acceptable Use Policy of the site, so I'm not sure that adding it to a "read before you post" thread would make any difference.

As it is in violation of the rules, the moderation team deal with requests of this nature appropriately.

I fully agree with NotLKH about "plz give code" and "do my homework" posters, we have tried in the past to stop it, but the replies from members works better than any other method we have found!
