Hi,
Suddenly I saw my computer si not making any sounds. My intel chipset CD is missing. I tried to download soundcards .. but in vain.. Can some body help me what sound card should i use. I use SIS-305 ...
I remember I had Avance AC'97... but it is not found anywhere to download...
there is Realtech AC'97 however on internet
Is the sound card integrated into the motherboard? If so, go to the motherboard manufacturers web site and see what drivers they have available - they should have some kind of explanation for each product (as long as it isn't too old) so that you know which driver you should use.

I'm pretty sure that will work. Try to install it. The worst that could happen is you still don't have sound, in which case you can simply uninstall it.
Yeah.. I have an integrated sound card alc210A, the driver I installed again. However, the computer still complains on "No mixer device found" when I try to open the Volume control. when I open Sound recorder , it says no Sound device found. help me out please
Thanks
Vijay S
I had the same problem with a friends computer after we formatted. We ended up downloading the motherboard drivers from their site, which solved the problem. Windows searched for the device but couldn't find the right drivers.
You could try to delete the sound card, and then rebooting to see if it can fix itself on the web.
Aaah.. I tried that under "Sound, game controllers" I have only these items listed "Audio Codecs", "Legacy Audio devices", "Microsoft MPU....","Legacy Video Capture devices","Media Control devices","Video Codecs". Though I installed again the alc210a, the driver is not shown there.. what do you think might be the problem. I also looked at Bios and my audio AC97 is enabled. I tried repairing my OS but in vain...
Actually I had to reply to my earlier thread...I didnt notice that I clicked <New thread>... sorry for that

Aah... I'm sorry.. after lots of search, I found the Chipset cd for my motherboard it says BioStar M7TDA. and the Audio is ALC201 Avance AC97 Audio. However when I try to install the Onboard Audio from the CD, it says "n board Audio Chipset Not Exist!" But I can see the chipset... do you think the Chip is gone?
Thanks
Vijay S
did you try to delete the sound card and all of its driver? reset your computer, win xp might just sort itself out.
i had that problem once on my other computer
