Actually, Boothman, I would agree with you. This is a great place and everyone does deserve to know they are appreciated. You thought of it first, but I'll sign the card too.

Not me. I gave out at least 50 Valentines today, and got two. The choir came into my class and sang a singing Valentine to me, too. It was neat. I don't do the pocket protector thing, and I adamently attempt to eschew my image as a nerd. However, I appreciate your thoughts, and I wish the same to everyone else.

Okay I think that got off topic REALLY fast! Amusing though. Looking back on when I started programming VB, I remember asking questions such as how to change the caption on a form And everyone always helped! I'll sign the V-day card to everyone who has helped me here and to all who will help me in the future.

    Chao dudes and dudettes

Actually a Geek is a circus clown that bites the head off of a chicken. It's a circus act that started a REAL LONG time ago.

heh.. ok, so this is VB, but hey, a little history doesn't hurt for all you young ones out there.

Danab, the only relevant thing to think about is how you can stop projecting your inferiority complex onto females. Women respond to this kind of message because they're the one's that know that ***** size has about as much to do with male attractiveness as, say, how hard a guy can hit a woman. Some women DO like to be abused; 99% do not.

I've never been confused with King Kong in bed, and I damn sure don't look anything like Richard Gere. I've also got more lovers (and potential lovers) than I know what to do with. This was not always the case. I'm writing such a long response because I can relate to the attitude you expressed above. There was a point in my life when I felt that women were wicked and unloving and only interested in male characteristics that I seemingly "lacked". Things did not change for the better until I began to realize that all of the beliefs and attitudes that I thought women possessed were in fact only "my" beliefs and attitudes that I had projected on to them. What I had seen as wickedness coming from outside was actually an internal part of myself that believed I was inferior. Once you make that connection, once you bring into the light of consciousness that which was previously an unconcious reflex belief, then you are no longer a victim, and things can change for you very rapidly. This is what happened to me. There came a point where I finally decided that I was quite sufficient unto myself, that I didn't really NEED anyone else to validate who I was, and that I was quite contented just to be who and what I was, failings and all. It was then that I became "attractive"; it was then that I noticed women in a different way; it was then that I noticed them looking at me in a very different way.

Couple of exercises: 1) Resolve to meet a beautiful woman, a woman you find very attractive. Resolve also, that sex will have nothing to do with it, not even in imagination (meaning, you won't go home and masterbate three times in a row fantasizing about her). In other words, resolve to find intimacy with a woman without it becoming physical. You will learn more from this than you would a thousand one-night stands.

    2) Project yourself into the far future, say, oh, about 24 hours before you know you're going to die. Ask this person, which is YOU 24 hours before death, what is important for you, what is it that YOU should be doing with you're life RIGHT NOW.

There is a whole sea of warm, loving women out there that wants to caress you and cradle you, cultivate you and love you, but you have to give them a chance; you have to give them "permission".

(sorry for the long, personal response, folks; my way of signing the valentine's card, I guess

My present wife might not like that idea. But then again, she might. She's pretty open-minded.

Forgot to thank everyone on this board for their timely responses. I've learned a lot even just hanging out here for a very short time.

BTW (just to throw the post a little more on-topic for the board), does anyone have experience debugging GetDIBits() API calls? Been drivin' me NUTS.

Thanks again everyone (keep ya in mind, compuGEEK )

I think Bill Gates said in his Autobiography or some book he wrote or something:

Be nice to the nerds, one day you'll be working for them.
