All about Spy++ Releated Tools
As you may know, tools like MS Spy++ can recover the class and handle properties of any given highlighted component. Also know as WinInspectors. I have been making some custom controls over the past few weeks and dont want people to see there property handles etc. Im trying to find ways to stop crackers getting this kind of information against things like ResHacker etc.
Any tools out there to hide Windows classes etc?
Appreciated

Re: All about Spy++ Releated Tools
Also on simple protection apps i noticed you could hover your mouse over a text field and if it is masked the Spy++ tool can actually reveal the unmasked text.
I need something that could maybe layer my form and stop such tools revealing my apps contents.
Thanks

Not NoteMe
Re: All about Spy++ Releated Tools
How about an invisible / transparent control placed over the top of yours?
Guess this isn't something you could do for a custom control though...

Yeah but doing that would block access to the underlying controls, all i need is something to scramble the properties Class ID when using such tools

Re: All about Spy++ Releated Tools
Then how does MS do it like on their navigation bar in Outlook 2003? Its obviously a control or at least a collection of controls but when you Spy++ it you dont get any child windows.

Re: All about Spy++ Releated Tools
I believe the controls images are drawn to the parent toolbar object, hence avoiding the use of child windows.

Re: All about Spy++ Releated Tools
Ive tried all sorts to wrapper it, also i here is a question. I remember a while back i tried taking a screenshot of a simpons episode in WMP, and when i pasted the image, it showed just a black square. How did they mask that?

Re: All about Spy++ Releated Tools
I think that has more to do with DVD Decoding than masking controls. I've never been able to screenshot a DVD.. Maybe it's the same with other decoders.

Depends if it is a low-level (hardware) playback stream. You can screenshot things like MPEG videos.
