    Tre bien? - non!

My French is a little rusty (ok, a huge amount rusty ), but if you start this, we'll end up with German, Spanish, Zwaheli and all sorts of different lanquage forums (and I don't think the writers of this site will want to change all this).

English is the most common / widely used so I say keep this as it is!

When you start forums that are language specific you would lose the benefit of the ideas of the rest of the world.

An American will never want read your question in French, let alone answer it in French.

Also a lot of programmers use English programs. Would they have to translate all their code to French as well?

I think you should be a Frenchman to get an idea like this. Never wanting to adapt to the outside world. You should all take a look at the Netherlands. There all languages are spoken and written. So the only international people on a French forum would be the Dutch.

When you're not Dutch you will probably don't like my contribution.

    Hey jeroenh

I am not dutch and I totally like your contribution!!
I think it is such a bad Idea to split it into languages.
Why should I only ask Germans if I have a question. I sometimes struggle with my english too, but still I would never try to post a question in German here.
And another thing: Advertisements normaly cost money, and you just put your stuff in here.
I once answered a question in German, because the author of it said, that he couldn't really explain himself in English, so Fox and me answered in German and English. Our thread still got kicked, so I am pretty sure, that your one will be deleted too.

    Learn English!!!

Lol, i wasn't thinking that this message will cause so much debate about specialize our forum or centralise them... I create this forum not for me, but for people who have difficulties with their english, or don't talk english! I know my english is not perfect but i'm sure he is better then your french guys :-) ! And i'm 15 years old!

So, for my forum, talk in bad, talk in good, but talk! :-)

I never said that the idea wasn't great. We can try something with the moderator of this site to combine French and English together because, people who comes here for helping and request help from other people may come from somewhere else than USA and speak another language. I come from Québec.... What do you think about it..... Let ask him!

    I am from Quebec too!

But translate the forum in french is a very huge task... I know because i've done it! So if you are french, and your english is poor, you should post in a french forum first to a english forum for french!

    Think about it.

Don't translate every post,,,,, It is a pain in the butt! Look, there is a pattern with the adress thing. You can simply send it to BabelFish (Altavista) so they can translate it for you automatically.....

Au fait, de quelle partie du Québec es-tu?

here because they are unable to explian themself ...

    Learn English .. ?

Splitting the forums into different language-related forums isn't a very good idea, I agree with that, especially since most of us use the english version of VB to program. I, for one, code entirely in french, and I've found it very frustrating that I can't post my code to help other people, just because it's in french. With a new section in french, I could post my code whenever I feel it could be helpful.

I'm not trying to start a debate here, and again, I don't think it's a good idea to actually split the forums into different languages. But adding other sections for other languages might be a good idea.

what do you mean,in Vb the only thing that can differ are
the variable name and the comment but what is the difference between:

    Dim myValue%
    myValue=5
msgbox myValue 'this is my value

    or

    Dim maValeur%
    maValeur=5
msgbox maValeur 'ceci est ma valeur

you will understand both of them right!!!

    so post your code anyway!!!

Here's the problem.... You post your code to help someone so,,, it must be into an understandable language!

Like: You want to show a buddy how to get random numbers and you post a line like this:

    X = int(rnd * 1000) + 1 'Choisir un numéro aléatoire

And the buddy in question is a newbie and didn't know that this was the line he was searching for, he will be lost!

    Thumbs up

I think its kewl that a programmer can stick a link up and SHOUT out to his/her brethren/sistren programmers that there is a site available in another language than english.

As i'm sure that there are many programmers out there whose mother tongue is NOT english.

Don't get me wrong, I think that if your tryng to understand WHY something DOESN'T work the way it should, then if by reading the same POSTING(or another posting) in a language (any language) that you find EASIER to UNDERSTAND then FINE.

I know lots of dudes who if i tryed to explain something in english they may understand as well if i tried to explain in their language.

Oh bye the way, I only know how to WRITE english

This reply has nothing to do with this question but I would like to respond to the text that mastermind94 leaves behind all the time.

If you think to know anything about Microsoft Windows 98 then you should also know that I have a PC that is running for more than a year with Windows 98 and it has never been necessary to reboot it. The only way to get this done is by building a very stable PC and a very stable installation of Windows 98.

This means your text isn't right. You should change this.
I'm very sorry to be out of line here but it's annoying to see a statement that isn't right.

I'm forever working with different PC's and Win98SE rules !!!

NT's stable, but crappy as you can't do too much with it, 2000 sucks as loads of old software doesn't install on it & mine crashes far more times than my win98 pc.

But, this has nothing to do with the French post anyway

If that's the case then you didn't buy the right computer or you didn't install win98 right.

I must confess that I did edit the registry in order to get it as stable as it is. Also it still has the directX and Internet version as was installed by win98 itself.

In the registry I only remove key's that arn't used by this computer and it has some limitations. Also I can't get it this stable when istalling on a PC faster than 350Mhz. The PC I am talking about is a P200 with 64MB memory and a 4MB videocard.

By the way, win2000 can do almost everything that win98 can when you know how to mix these to. I copied a couple of Dll's that didn't work with old programs from win98 to win2000.

I've gone right in & taken loads out of the registry, have installed later versions of everything that win98 put on there, and loads of add-ons (18GB of programs), can't crash mine - might be something wrong with the hardware?

I do not know if the problem came from the computer. My computer is running so fine. I bought the pieces and put them toguether. I installed windows and a month later, the computer began to crash all the time.
