    debian pwnz j00.
    ubuntu is based on debian.
gentoo is source-based so you would want to leave a few days free to install it.

Gentoo is overrated. You feel all mighty and awesome after you get it all setup, then it hits you later...'Boy that was days wasted'

    I enjoy Mepis. Debian based.

BlueJ sucks... no build-time assistance, and the compile error messages are so unhelpful...

You're mental you even have this in your sig to prove it:

    ("zammel", remember, not "ex-ay-em-el")

So your opinion on pronounciations can and should be discounted

Beg to differ, but his sig is documented here . The author, a true codeguru, believes that anyone who says Ex-Ay-Em-El is mentally deranged, and deserves to be dipped in an aluminium {"aluminium", remember, not "Al-Lou-Minnn-Numb"} vat of caramel { "caramel", remember, not "Kar-Mool" }, then rolled in a pile of flour { "flower", remember, not "Flu-Urr" }.

Besides, his opinion carries the weight of 2, while you are only 1.
Go ahead, discount it up to 50%!

    Re: whats your favourite IDE?

    Pffffftt, PFFFFFT I say!!

I am not interested in the opinion of someone (the author) who is nothing more than a glorified web designer.

"Oooh lets put lots of silly tags in our interface and slow our machines down (with resource hogging interpreted crap) even more than we do already. Yes what a good idea. HEY! we can even make people pronounce it in a really camp way just to upset all the smart people. And we can also get all the retarded software company managers to latch onto ZAMMEL as the next big buzzword to molest their already overstressed coders with. This will be even more successful than Microsoft Bob! W0o0t"

    What a load of arse.

    Can I go home now?
I don't live here any more.
