Yeah it's done the 'email rounds' here at work too.
Unfortunately it's not Katrina. If the pictures are real it shows small scale atmospheric rotation (on the scale of tens of miles) As we all know a hurricane is on the scale of hundreds of miles.
Also when a hurricane approaches it's not a discrete event. ie you don't get sunshine one minute, and a hurricane the next. The weather gradually worsens and you'd be stuck under a cyclonic gloom with the wind and rain gradually increasing.
Im my (uneducated) opinion I'd say this were some form of extreme MCS (mesoscale convection system)
ie It's about thunder, and tornados, not hurricanes.

So nice you can almost see the little people being torn in half and smashed into the ground at 200mph.

One two and three are thunder storms. Four and five are tornados; as is number 7 and the others are pictures of pretty cloud formations.
Hurricanes are huge, there is only one place you can get views like that from:

Sorry - Fx resized it and I didn't realise it was so big.
I wonder how many people are still waiting for it to download of their grubby dial up connections.

Re: Crazy Not-So-Katrina Pictures (Amazing)
I have a similar picture on my desktop that was supposedly a hurricane at sea last year. The one hurricane I saw at a distance, did have some impressive clouds along one edge. However, those pictures (while neat), are thunderstorm shots taken from different parts of the mid-west judging from the topography and vegetation.
The desktop shot I have doesn't look much like a hurricane, either. Thunderstorms are much more photogenic, but hurricanes have a better name. Seems to be a recurant phenomenon where people take a picture of a thunderstorm, and say it is a hurricane. Wonder why?
My usual boring signature: Nothing

"Tornadogenesis" is quite a cool name for a thunderstorm undergoing some shear modification.
"Convective electrification event" sounds quite good too.
