My question is whether the 2 years experience programming vb is necessary as the ms website suggests. I know it would be helpful but do i need it to get the cert?

Is it possible, yes, is it necessary, I'm not sure. One of my good friends just got his MCSD cert and he hasn't even worked in the computer field yet. He just student for a year, and passed them all.

It's not necessary insofar as it is not a pre-requisite, but you learn a lot in two years of programming.
If you are good, then there is no reason you can't do the exam. It's just that two years, or at least some amount of professional coding exposes you to a far wider range of programming issues than you might otherwise come across if you are just coding for fun.
If you can pass the test exams, then you'll be fine.

Certification is good. But experience is better.

Oh, and by the way, I'm on my way to MCSD too! I've done my national diploma, and heading for my international diplomas.

Thank you all. I just didn't want to put all this time in to studying for something that there was no way i was going to be able to pass.
