    Angry

someone sent me a Sub7 port probe, and I am not sure what to do.

I've got their IP, and they use the same ISP as I do, so I can report them to abuse, but should I?

    Thanks,
    -Dennis

Dennis, I reckon screw 'em, send the IP to your webmaster. I get these probes all the time and I'm sick to death of them, I wish they would crawl back under their rock.

    About S7

    You better report it!
I was a user of the S7 sever (not a victim!) and used to have fun with my friends over the LAN and i didn't see any probs with it!

But the Internet is a diff thing.. so you better report it

    .......

Well for the life of me i cant remember sub7's port...... but i will tell you it over icq dennis when i remember it...and then all you have to do is keep an eye open for the port listening ...and config a firewall to block it.

Also just because you were probed for sub7..doesnt mean you have it on your puter... it is just some ass who is scanning for possible victims...
    Tip of the Day

    Did you know...

    There are no tips available.

I know that jeff..... I have been sub7'ed before, and since then I have learned all I could about it.

the most used port is 1337("leet"), and without the server installed, it's completely useless, plus, I have BlackICE(a very good firewall kinda thing) which is the only reason I knew I got probed.
I used to have a port scanner to scan for open ports on my computer, but I found it very slow and not very reliable.

I have used the sub7 client before, but the only reason I did, was to remove the server from victims computers.

    Thanks for your opinions.

I sent the email to my ISP, and they don't seem very happy with that person

The best way to combat people who use sub7 is to learn how to use the program and how it works the better understanding of the program the better you can defend yourself, and i dont mean go any try this on some1 else's pc... try over a LAN or try your own PC from another location... and personally i hate BlackICE it complains about shity little every day things, and it can be ripped apart from remote locations and sometimes you dont notice it has stop running!!!!!

I know how sub7 works, as I had said on one of my previous posts.

and BlackICE only complains about everything if you've set your security level to paranoid.
