[Resolved] - Free Anti-Virus
I need to choose a free anti-virus.
From a quick search, I've found, AVG, Avast, Trend Micro Online.
Quickly I'll choose Avast but I didn't try the two others. Trend MIcro is use by hotmail an gave me headache (sometimes it find viruses sometimes not it the same file! (in a 20 seconds laps) What an anti-virus...)
I would like to know your opinions about theses antivirus (and others if it happen you know other free antivirus). Which is best, easy GUI (the person who's gonna use it isn't very confortable with a computer), better detections etc
Thanks

Re: Free Anti-Virus
I have used AVG for years. Interface is fine, virus defenitions may be set to update automatically with absolutely no user input, updates seem to occur almost daily, I have never received any solicitation from AVG and I have yet to ever have a problem with a virus. I can see no reason to pay for virus scanning with such a great free product available.

Re: Free Anti-Virus
Wrong call with Avast, the GUI is amazingly weird, and for someone new to cmputing its not the right choice, saying that, it picks up vruses effectively !
AVG is the way to go

Thanks to all of you
Everyone seem to agree for AVG so I'll seriously take a deeper look to it.
the GUI is amazingly weird
I've see what you mean and I agree with you. I don't want such an interface for a beginner user.
Thanks again all of you

Re: [Resolved] - Free Anti-Virus
The default options in Avast are sufficient for new users. It will protect their system. They are offering it for free in an effort to stop a world-wide virus spread. I've only opened the actual interface a few times in the past months.
I get virus updates a few times per week.
