Jet Blue Flight #292
Did you watch the landing at LAX? The plane had its front landing gear stuck sideways so the wheel could not roll. Did you think it was going to crash land or just media hype for the past couple of hours?
If you were on that flight, what would you have been thinking during the landing?

When the front wheels finally touched pavement...
When they started smoking...
and then burst into flames...
But they never bounced, never drove the nose down,...
they never flipped, they just slowed down...
down...
down...
until they stopped...
I was the first to applaud!
The rest of the bar joined me!
GOOD JOB!
OOOWAAA!!!

They broadcast a text message on my station, saying to go to their website. I did, and clicked to see a video stream. Unfortunately, it requred ActiveX components, which I didn't have in Fx. I guess I'll see it on the news...

Another win for IE
The landing couldnt have gone more smoothly and Jet Blue stock will shoot up sharply in the morning. Not to mention AirBus will also go up in price too.

Funny, when I read your post I thought it said "If you were on that flight, what would you have been drinking during the landing?" and the answer would have been anything I could get my hands on!

Re: Jet Blue Flight #292
I had to double check it myself to make sure I didnt do a type-o. Maybe your needing a drink after the recent DB crash and it was a subconscious thought? Those people were very lucky it went so well. And just think, some of the passengers are on the news telling their stories. Its their 15 seconds of fame!

Re: Jet Blue Flight #292
I caught part of the landing. Nose wheel positioned perpendicular to the motion of the plane, scraping along the ground, flames and sparks shooting from it - pretty spectacular.

Re: Jet Blue Flight #292
I know, we were all watching for a while waiting for the plane to land. I thought for sure it was going to just break off and have the nose drop down. A true testiment to AirBus' workmanship? Could be taken both as a good thing and as a bad thing.

Re: Jet Blue Flight #292
The pilot pwned the situation. He circled for 3 hours, depleting the fuel supply, and then landed, basically, with the front wheel off the ground, knowing that they would land on the rear of the plane (where the fuel tanks are). They didn't want to land hard enough to burst into flames, nor did they want to cause enough sparks to ignite the plane. Nice Job!

The passengers were watching their landing on live television. That could have been weird if things didn't go as well.

Re: Jet Blue Flight #292
Yes, that was mentioned by the news that since they are on JetBlue, which has TV at every seat, they were probably getting more info from them they they were from the air crew.
They could have watched their own landing if they didnt want to get into the crash position.

You're kidding! There's no way I could have coped with that, I'd have been climbing out of my seat.
As for what I'd have been thinking: "How am I going to get through the terminal without anyone spotting this enormous brown stain?"

Well they did watch the Live coverage while they where circling over LA. Once the Pilot approached for landing they did turn off the Tele. At least thats what I heard in the news.
