VB6.0 qualification, is it still worth it?
Here in our country there is a national council (gov't agency) that provides certification as a programmer including VB6.0, for the heck of it I am tempted to take it (it's this coming Nov.), do you think it will be worth it? Just for the boosting of ego and resume (that is if I will pass )...

Not really. It's outdated, probably wouldn't be recognised overseas, and if you got a new job would you be working with VB6? Probably not.

Maybe I could cheat it and just say "Hey, I'm a Certified Programmer" without telling that it's only for VB6.0...

Well, we just hired two new VB6 programmers, and quite possibly might be adding a third before the year is out.

Do you think it will benefit your skills? And do you like to improve yourself?
These are the questions you should ask yourself, unless your resume is your life of course...
why can't programmers keep and 31 Oct and 25 dec apart. Why Rating is Useful
for every question you ask provide an answer on another thread.

Re: VB6.0 qualification, is it still worth it?
The Microsoft certification tests for any of the VB6 tests are all retired since June 30, 2004. There is no way to get a MCSD in VB6 from Microsoft anymore. Now if you have limited professional experience then getting any kind of certifications are worthy since it shows that your dedicated to learning more and increasing your skills. I would not want to hire anyone that does not want to improve their programming skills. What would be the point.
I got my major break into the profession because they were requiring at least one ms cert. in addition to the experience. They wanted to see that the person was self motivated among other things.
