Basic qualifications?
Hi there,
I recently been working in a engineering position for a year, which required me to learn vb.net and vba.
The question is, is there any accredited qualifications which i can take without not too problem , so that i can prove that i can program ?
cheers

Re: Basic qualifications?
Microsoft Certification Exams would be my first suggestion.
They are not, however, easy. Microsoft recommends that you have a minimum of 2 years experience in the area for which you would like to test.

Re: Basic qualifications?
MCE's are only run for current supported MS prodcuts I believe. I have 7 years experience in VB Classic but it won't get me anywhere
Don't forget you would usually (if you are considering getting a new job) take some sort of skills test at the job interview, which is where you'd prove your worth anyway

My experience with those is that many of them are logic based rather than a specific test of a specific skill, and do not mean squat at any company other than the one that you are interviewing for. The Microsoft exams, on the other hand, are pretty much accepted industry wide.

Yeah that's true. My point however that, assuming the company had faith in their own test, it would get you the job. Although, it would be nicer and easier to just flash an MCSE certificate at them

You mean MCP, MCAD or MCSD....this fella did programming, not networking
But, even passing only one exam will give him a MCP card and certificate
Take the exam Matey...then you are covered for the co's possible test and got proof of your knowledge....
Don't bother to much with MS's 2 year experience rule Hack mentioned...it's a stupid impractical rule...especially since very few technologies still look the same after 2 years anyhow.

Re: Basic qualifications?
You can read more about the whole certification process here and about the exam process here
Exams you will write at Pearson VUE or Prometric testing centre's. Where I'm from, most training institutions were also registered testing centres (Either VUE or Prometric) You can search for that here
Good luck
