    MZ tools questions

    hello

i have a few questions regarding MZ tools

is the generate XML documentation part of the MZ tools?

hey does installing MZ-tools change the VB6 drop down menus in any way, some of the posts talk about reinstalling VB6

hey invetrex, i like your signature, the one that provides a users IP address as well as the ISP. i tried to copy the code, but it turned out to be a jpg. is it a web based application?

does visual studio 2005 provide VB6, .net, c# and c++ support? (does my question sound like a question from management? )

hey brian, can the project not be ported to a different environment, instead of waiting for VS2005 to come out? if you dont mind can you tell me what sort of project are you working on?

The IDE's menus remain the same. MZTools adds its own.

    There is no VB6 support.

you mean to say that any project written in VB6 cannot be opened with visual studio 2005?

can it be opened with visual studio 2003?

A VB6 project can only be opened in VB6.

VB.NET shares one thing in common with VB6, and that is that the VB in both stand for Visual Basic. Other than that, they are virtually complete different languages, and they are totally a completly different platform.

    Re: MZ tools questions

If you open a vb6 program in Net (which it allows) it will attempt to be converted by the wizard. I have not had any luck getting programs to run this way. It may be useful to see how they do the same thing in net, but it will not convert your program into working net code.

    Yes.

    Yes.

I don't think it will be as fast as M$ is hoping for. There are too many programs out there that are working fine, and nobody will want to rewrite all their apps just so they can run under Net. Once Vista comes out, if it doesn't support VB6, that might be a different story.

    Re: MZ tools questions

ah so if vsta does not support VB6 then there will be a whole bunch of people wanting to make their applications vista compatible (in other words all VB6 applications would have to be redone)

doesn't that mean a big demand for VB.net?

when is vista gonna be out? do you think it is gonna support VB6?

maybe people will make the switch to linux, i guess VB6 applications cant run on linux?

is there a freeware environment on which i can learn VB.net?

    Re: MZ tools questions

The beta version seems to support VB6, but I think I've read that the API's are different. That seems like a contradiction.
