I thought so too, but apparently no-one else did.

Re: delete the moved posts in codebank
If there was no trace of the post, it would just be posted again, which also would have to be moved.

Re: delete the moved posts in codebank
If we removed the redirect shortcuts then how would the member find their post if they navigate to it? It would take allot of time in maintenance to PM members with their new thread location so thats not really an option. You wont see the redirects in the FAQ Forum because that forum is moderated with a post queue. Every post must be validated, modified, moved, or deleted. CodeBank and UtilityBank will not get queues applied.

Re: delete the moved posts in codebank
Yeah, but how about just an auto-prune after say a week? ATM it looks like they just stay there indefinitely. Plus, members can find the thread in their User CP.
Also, UtilityBank is moderated, Codebank isn't.

Re: delete the moved posts in codebank
When I say Moderated with a Post Queue its different from just having a Moderator assignerd to the Forum. Utility and CodeBank are both Modded by Hack and Si respectivly.
What about when some member other then the thread starter sees the thread one moment and then the next its gone? If they are too slow to post a reply they will have to do a search for it and you know how members dont use the search all that often.

Re: delete the moved posts in codebank
Sure, but we're talking about questions here. Threads that should be posted in the respective Q+A forum, not the Codebank. Does it really matter if a reply goes missing? The same member will probably find it in the Q+A forum later.

The UtilityBank is fully moderated. You submit to the UtilityBank-Submissions forum and then wait for your thread to be approved.

Re: delete the moved posts in codebank
I removed the redirects since I agree that a forum like the CodeBank should be "clean".

Yes, its called a Post Queue.
The same could be said, Does it really matter if the redirects are left. Its hard to please everyone.

Oh, sorry, I get those silly C-whatever languages mixed up and I had deleted the redirects from the C++ CodeBank. They are now gone from both.

I'll let the moderator of the CodeBank take care of the rest if he wants to.

Rob, I know it might be confusing for people when they dont find their post... but I think it can be safely deleted a few days after it's been moved (because by then they better know that it was moved )

When we move mposts we usually post a reply that at least says "moved" and that takes care of the poster knowing where his thread went.
