anyone know how to create a movie CD that plays in a DVD player by using an AVI file?

    I have a 256 Mb AVI file.
I have a DVD writer, but no DVD disks, but I do have lots of CDs.

How can a create a movie CD that will play in a normal DVD (not in a PC) player?

use nero or any other cd burning program and select "VCD" or "SVCD" and it will convert it and allow it to play on your dvd player...assuming it supports VCD or SVCD format (most now a days do)

VCD is easy to make. Roxio has an otpion to do this for avis. KFC's suggestion is right on the money.

Hey, this should be moved to General PC?

Some new DVD-player's can play MPEG4 (XVID and the likes) as well, so make sure yours doesn't before you start making VCD's. Because MPEG4 would be better quality (in relation to size).

Yeah. Who would want to watch low quality porn you downloaded?

Seriously though, you can also use an app called tmpgenc, just google for it, and it can encode your avi to VCD and SVCD format. Although apps like Nero will re-encode for you, I find that tmpgenc does it alot faster plus gives me alot more options to re-encode it the way I want to. And then you can make the VCD in Nero with the re-encoded mpeg.

Phillips makes a DIVX player that plays .avi and .mpg files.

Be warned, it cuts off subtitles on some video, like the animes i've tried.
