Price of Programs
In your place what is the usual price of systems you developed? I know it will depend on the system's requirements, etc... Maybe just range will do...

Re: Price of Programs
That is such a vague question - it's impossible to answer.
Running a business requires enough income to offset expenses - that's the bottom line.
We happen to develop custom applications for large enterprise users - such as school districts with 1000+ teachers and administrators. My competitors in this field will sell these applications for $100,000+ and also charge 15% of this for annual maintenance fees.
What type of products are you wondering about? Are they custom or shrink-wrapped? What is the on-going relationship that you will have with the client after the sale?

Re: Price of Programs
You have 2 different methods for determining a price.
1.) T/M - Time and Materials. This mean that you work for an hourly rate with an open ended contract. Basically they pay until finished. This is the safest for the developer since there is no chance of overrunning the project but you may still have to provide some kind of estimate of a range of hours that it may take.
2.) Fixed Price. This is a flat price for the entire project. You need to provide a quote and possible number of hours for the project. This is safest for the client but most dangerous for the developer as if an issue popsup you have to overcome it in the same total hours as quoted.
