    QuickBase ad ... common really

This ad reminds me days when JM took over this site so ads were everywhere including sticky posts in the forums but this one covers 1/2 of my screen (1024x768). What's going to be tomorrow? ... Why not dedicate the entire page for advertisements. I understand that money has to come from somewhere but common really - it's got to be some limit.

Ah those, I really don't notice it, when you have visited CodeGuru it seems it's worse there since the ads are on the right side part...

Yes, when compared to CG we have it easy. Keep in mind that all JM site eventually end up with a common ad layout after some time.

I really hope VBForums wouldn't have the ad layout of CG.

I dont think t would be to that extent as every forum has its own personality and traffic, but changes are always inevitable in the name of progress and $$$.

At home, I have VBForums as my homepage.
Upon starting up my browser, that top area fills up my entire screen so much, the "User cp...Faq..." menu bar is just barely peeking up over the bottom of the screen.

At work, its not so bad, since I have my display at 1280 x 1024, thus that top part fills up the top half only.

Re: QuickBase ad ... common really

The ads in the position at the top are not suppose to be larger than 320 in height (a standard "BOB" ad). I'll bring this up internally.

I need to be careful though because this site is suppose to have been updated with the same ads on CodeGuru that are on the right side (and huge most of the time). I am working to keep the profile low here so that someone on the sales/ad side doesn't say "hey wait a minute, why aren't they on VBForums....". I was actually surprised they didn't add them here at the same time as CodeGuru.

So -- the ads you are seeing Rhino are a lot smaller than the big ones on CodeGuru, but they still shouldn't be in that spot. I'll see if I can get some restrictions on the spot. Hopefully the result won't be a change to add the huge space on the right side....

Re: QuickBase ad ... common really

I do appreciate your concern Brad, I do not however understand why are we comparing VBF to CG despite the fact that both are owned by JM. This is a completely different community with quite of a different tastes and blend of characters so it is very unique if you will - so treat it as such.

I hope you will convey this message to those that really are "in-charge" so hopefully they will reconcider current site's design - there are plenty of extra ordinary examples on the internet and if they cannot find any then we have lots of tallents here ...

    Thanks.
