[Resolved] dotNet
Hey friends,
I intend to get into .NET profession. I have a good background into Microsoft developement tools (VB/SQL) (about 8 years of development experience).
What is the best way to learn .NET? Any books, references and advise on where to start and what steps to go through? I wish to take a precise path instead of me trying different paths. Could you guys please advise?
Thanks a ton!

Re: dotNet
Is this something you are going to be doing on your own, or can you expect some company training?
Do you have the .NET frameworks available to you now?

Get the VS.NET compiler, and play with examples in a good book.

Re: dotNet
1) Download the .net framework (version 2 is available, but it's still in beta and not much documentation is available)
2) Using various article's and tutorials available for free on the net, start coding in a text editor to get a hang of the language.
3) Unless you can afford VS.Net (which is the best), you can download one of a few free IDE's available on the internet (google)
You might want to go the long good way around and first get to learn a bit MSIL. I got a good book on programming the .net framework, which really gives you some good insight into the framework. PM me.
oh...welcome....no matter what they say about .net (especially some grumpy kids on here) , it's the best thing ever.

Re: dotNet
And before you do all that, get Wrox Press Professional VB.NET 2003.

Re: dotNet
And, when you have some time, go through these and see if you find something interesting.
