[RESOLVED] Question about user rank
Hi
I'm just wondering about the user rank, do you have any guidelines that I can read to be able to know who's responsible on promoting a user to let's say Moderator, Super Moderator? and how it is being done?
And also isn't a Administrator,Moderator tag seperated from a user custom title? I mean if the user can change his/her custom title given the amount of post wouldn't it possible for them to change their custom title to something like Moderator for instance? or they are not allowed to change their custom title unless the leadership group allows them to?

Re: Question about user rank
Moderators, Super Moderators and Administrators are selected by the Administrators.
A filter exists that prevents users from modifying their custom title to say "Moderator", etc., but even if they could that would not give them the permissions and abilities of a Moderator, etc.

Will it be based on the Reputation? or the Administrator has a way of selecting a Moderators and Super Moderators?
What's the difference between Moderators and Super Moderators with regards to moderating?
Is there any special user level to those who show competence in at least one aspect of Visual Basic, to those which can be considered an expert in that area? Or only the Moderators and Super Moderators are considered expert?

Re: Question about user rank
Reputations are a fairly new feature so it has not been used in the past to select moderators but it could be used in the future as one of the things that we would look at in selecting moderators. Normally moderators are selected from those who are knowledgeable in the area where a new moderator is needed but that is not an absolute requirement. The candidates also need to demonstrate maturity and the ability to communicate clearly.
Once a candidate has been selected he is asked if he wants the "job" and if he does then an Administrator can set the database flags that make him a moderator.
As to who is an expert, no, moderators and super moderators (and admins ) are not the only ones who are considered expert. There may be people who are much more knowledgeable but just don't want to be, or haven't been asked to be, a moderator. The reputation system when mature will help with indicating who is an expert but it can never show you all the experts because the most expert person may not have posted enough times to gain any kind of reputation. Even while not mature the system has already pointed out people like RobDog888, dglienna and Joacim Andersson who are experts in at least one area. You can see the list of people with the most reputation points by clicking on Members List menu item and then on the Reputation column heading.

Moderators have moderation privileges in only the forums they are assigned to, Super Moderators moderate all forums.
