    Angry Pinnacle PCTV problems

I have the this PCTV app that comes with my Pinnacle TV card that's always producing that XP message stating that it must be closed because of an illegal operatiion or something. This error message pops up right at program start or maybe one or two minutes later. If I don't click OK and move the dialog box to one edge of the screen the app keeps working normally -except that sometimes the sound becomes muted and you have to switch channels to recover it, i.e. go to video and back to TV.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it to no avail. Should I reinstall XP? If yes, what would the correct sequence be?:

    1) Uninstall PCTV + install XP + install PCTV
    2) Install XP + uninstall PCTV + install PCTV
    3) Other (than shoot myself)

By the way, I recently installed XP SP2. Does that mean I have to uninstall it and re-install it too? The problem with PCTV has been around long before I installed SP2.

My friend had one of these and I had no end of problems trying to get it to work on XP SP2. There is a XP SP2 driver try that

Here is a dedicated forum you might have better luck here

    BTW
I never had any joy with the thing and there seem to be lots of people with a similiar setup having issues.

The fact of the matter is, though, it wasn't working already before I installed SP2. But thanks for the link, I should first make sure the exact PCTV model/version I have and maybe look for drivers.
