    AMD64 3000+ (939) or P4 530J (3.0Ghz)?

Have two systems which are entirely identical (not sure on the motherboards though but it doesn't really matter) in price/specs, the only difference is the cpu. Which would you guys recommended based off performance? (ie I don't want any fan boys). I would normally say the AMD64, but since the price is the same for both systems, its coming down purely to performance.

    Thanks inadvance.

Personally, Id go with the AMD64. If in the future you put a 64 bit OS on it, you are likely to get better performance.

I do believe AMD are nudging ahead in the performance stakes at the moment too! Also I believe the Intel desktop chips are a little on the warm side - meaning a bigger and louder fan. I've been recommended if I need to have a Intel chip go for the P4 M chips - much better architecture I've heard but I'm not sure if it matches AMD performance.
