Whenever I use my printer I lose my broadband conection. I'm pretty sure this is happening because of a port conflict between my printer and Email2Pop, an SMTP/POP3 program that I use. I don't want to change the port that Email2Pop uses so how can I change the printer port?
It's LPT1. Device Manager says "No conflicts" for LPT1, but every time I'm connected to the internet and I print something I lose the internet connection.
Check if you have the possibility to change it in the BIOS. I don't have it on this machine, but a lot of the PCs we sold when I worked in a computer shop hadd.
If you right click on the Printer Port in Device Manager, you can uncheck the Use Automatic settings, and there are about 20 different settings that you can choose from. (Mine is using #00)
As soon as I changed it to #01, I saw an IRQ conflict immediately, before I clicked on the APPLY button.
I thnk #00 is based on the BIOS.
You could change it and see if you can find a setting that doesn't interfere with your connection.

Am I using the right tool? I don't see any such option.
I used the properties of the ECP port. I only have a network printer available to my wireless laptop, so I have no installed printers (and only CutePDF Writer which doesn't appear).
If you have the problem with only one of the printers, and you don't print from more than one printer at a time, use the same settings for both of them, but if you have the same problem with with all printers, then change the ECP port.
Just select the properties and you'll see the menu.
You have a multi-function printer? Fax/Scanner? It's odd that you aren't getting an interrupt conflict. You should be able to see it in the printer settings, though.

With the hint from -TPM- I was able to see how to do what you suggested. Thanks.
