Re: 3 London Subway Stations Evacuated
Doesn't sound so big. An eye vitnes says that guy was carrying the bag when it exploded. And since no one is reported hurt yet. Not even the guy carrying the bag, then it must have been small.
These stations have reported suspicios events:
Warren Street, Oval and Shepherd's Bush.

The explosions seem to be detonators only.

Well this is weird, is this people playing a warped joke, or someone trying to prove security measures are pointless.
Perhaps they are jihadis with memory problems.

Re: 3 London Subway Stations Evacuated
Is there any way to build a small bombproof chamber that everyone has to rapidly pass thru before boarding buses, trains, planes?
With the technology to send an em pulse powerful enough to detonate any bombs that the person might happen to be carrying before they get on?

If there was anything remotely usable like that I'd imagine Israel would be using it already.

Seems quite serious...well serious enough to bring Londons infrastructure grinding to a halt again. Nice to see, after 1st reports, that the only person known to be injured was the person actually carrying the "bomb".

Seems like they were all detonators, designed to scare rather than hurt.
I'm going to guess that this is the work of some twisted sicko copycat who wants his 15 minutes of fame

They have bomb-sniffing machines in the airport in the US. Not all of them, but in the major hub near me. I think it's in production everywhere. I don't think people go through it, just their luggage.

Re: 3 London Subway Stations Evacuated
its slow, though, and what are the consequences?
Perp might get arrested.
With a bomber-zapper, the consequences are a bit more severe and permanent.
Plus, it makes a nice boom!

Blair just said that there were 4 explosions.
They allegedly caught a perp in the hospital that others chased out of the subway.

Creating a whole new game:
plant the banger on the backpacker, then join the mob for a bit of happy slapping.

Then they just detonate themselves while waiting in line with everyone else to pass through the machine.

It seems like it was a failed attempt at carnage. The police conference, here in London, said that there was unexploded explosives.
. . . and they've left loads and loads of evidence,too

Re: 3 London Subway Stations Evacuated
Just read there were explosives in the bags with the detonators. They must have mixed up a bad batch of explosives or something. Thankfully.

Heard people were coming out covered in white dust - which could be tatp (tri acetone tri peroxide). A favorite of Al Qaeda. But it sounds like the bomb maker screwed up, it's got to be mixed very precisely otherwise it's to hard to set off, or can go off after just a bump. If their gear didn't get blown to bits, which it sounds like it didn't, I'm sure there's a boat load of evidence there. Sure hope so anyway.

Re: 3 London Subway Stations Evacuated
This is so cool, our police PWND some dude. Jumped on him and blew him away. Sounds like something the KGB would have done. Maybe the guy hadn't paid for his train ticket.
Anyway its about time our police force grew a pair.
Way to go SO19
Update:
SKYNews: "London police on 'shoot to kill' orders if they believe someone is about to detonate a bomb".
Surely this could set off a bomb itself?

"One of them was carrying a black handgun - it looked like an automatic - they pushed him to the floor, bundled on top of him and unloaded five shots into him."
Another passenger on the train, Anthony Larkin, told BBC News the man had been wearing a "bomb belt with wires coming out".
... man this bombing stuff is getting bad now. There all freaking sheep...I feel sorry for 'real' muslims who actually listen to their religion. Nowhere in islam does it say go blow your self up and you are good.

People keep saying "automatic" handgun. I never realised Scotland Yard had started issuing its officers with Tec 9's.
Although that would be sweet.
