    GDI+ Book

I'm thinking of writing a book about GDI+ graphics in .Net. I'd like to gauge how much interest there would be, this sounds like the best place to find out.

I'll be covering everything from drawing simple lines, up to advanced techniques like backbuffering and alphablending and dynamic line and fill styles.

There WILL be a chapter (or three) devoted to API usage

The recent interest in a few of my latest graphics threads have made me wonder if its worth putting all this stuff on paper.

Let me know your opinions please.

(GDI+ is the evolution of the old GDI libraries in Win32, GDI+ is more OOP and geared towards .Net. Prety much everything graphical in .Net programs is drawn with GDI+)

I didn't know you could read, let alone write. I'd buy it just to see how many words are spelled funeticlee.

    Re: GDI+ Book

As has just been pointed out to me by an esteemed colleague, I did say this book was originally going to be in VB.Net. Well now it isn't, its going to be in C# BUT don't worry.

If you understand VB.Net then you won't have any problem with C#, its virtually the same language anyway, just with slightly different punctuation

Wasn't my choice to change to C# but thats just the way it is I'm afraid. Everything in the book will still apply to VB.Net but you'll have to get used to reading C#

If you are worried about this then just take a look in the C# forum and read some code, its pretty obvious whats going on.

    * #@!* @_@

    Noooooo

I've tried converting C# code to VB and I am so n00b that I got stuck very soon.

But still I say, Go for it!

*Edit* Will VB source code be included?

    Re: GDI+ Book

    C# ???? c'mon, who needs that

j/k, it shouldn't be a problem converting to VB, unless you begin to use pointers.

And it would be a good chance to learn som C#. I can read it, but I couldn't code it to save my life

Anyway, I'd definitly buy the book. Go for it

    Re: GDI+ Book

You guys should at least try C# for 1 day. The only difference is syntax, otherwise they are very similar languages. Don't worry, there won't be any pointers in this book.

The publisher approached me not the other way around. He obviously recognises skillz.

He wanted a coder to help with a C# book and I fitted the bill.

I prefer C# too so thats ok.

It's a long i'm searching for a good GDI+ book, because all I have found in other books is the basics operations such draw a line with a solid pen, etc. but i'd like to get into the *real action* ... anyway, will it be sold in Italy?? I'd like to see it, and if it's nice - as it seems to be from what u said - i'll buy it!
