If you have a computer running a network operating system (which you have to have in order to install MS SQL Server), then pop the CD into the CD drive, and the installation wizard should fire up, and walk you through it.

When you purchased SQL Server, did you get any manuals?

You need either the developer edition to install on a normal operating system
or a server operating system installed to run MS SQL.

next start setup and press Ok,Ok,Ok etc...

    Re: Hau to install SQL

I just installed DEVELOPER's edition on my new laptop yesterday - was very easy...

About the only problem I had was that I did not join the laptop to the domain properly, so authentication by other workstations on the office network wasn't working.

As Hack said, if you have standard or enterprise edition, then you need a "server" machine to install it on. If you don't have developers edition, then only the client tools will get installed on your workstation - the install process knows that and will stop you from attempting to install the server product.
