Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
Anyone had any experience with this combination? Was alittle worried that the cables from the power supply wouldn't be long enough. I guess I'm pushing my luck for all three, but if anyones using an Asus A8N-E as well without running power cables are bad angles, I'd love to hear about it.

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
On my main system at home I run Antec TruePower 430 watt PS with an Asus PC800-C Delux mobo.. It has plenty of cables and
the length is fine in my mid tower case. It is a quality PS that truely delivers the output it is rated at.
When I get home I can double check the length if you want to give measurements, cable counts, types, etc.

Nah you don't need to goto that much trouble. I've heard that any other power supplies with this case don't really work very well, but I'm not really familiar with whether or not if theres like a standard in regards to the length of the power cables.

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
Its no trouble since I had my case already opened. The main 20 pin plug has plenty of length to connect to the mobo in my mid
tower (3 5.25" bays and 2 3.5 bays). Its got so may 4 pin power plugs for CDROMs and HDs that I cant count then in the case but I think
its about 4 cables for HD/CDROMS with at least 3-4 plugs on each, a couple of cables for Fan power/monitoring, 2 cables for Serial ATA
power plugs with 2 pluges each (4 SATA plugs total). And its quiter then you think it would be for its power.

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
The P180 is fairly large, http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=81800
11 Drive Bays:
- 4 x 5.25" external drive bays
- 1 x 3.5" external drive bays
- 6 x 3.5" internal drive bays
Errm, whichever of the above (3.5?) is for the harddrives are stacked sideways, so size doesn't matter so much, plus the power cables have to run from the bottom of the case to the middle and then into the upper chamber. :\ I dunno, I think I should be right, I'd just hate to get it home and find it doesn't reach or I have to do something dodgy to make it reach.

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
Yes, thats a very nice case and looks like you can load a bunch on periphials in it. My case is also a mid-tower of practically
the same height (~21"). The main power cable and all the periphial power plugs should reach the outter most CDROM on the top with
no problems.
My main power cable is about ~18" in length and since your tower is only 21" tall it should be plenty of length for the connection to
the mobo. Now the power supply cables for the periphials are all bundled up but they can reach the top 5.25" bay with no problems at all.
For reassurance you could send a email over to [email protected] and tell the you want to know if you buy that combination of
their products if the cables will reach or if they can tell you the exact length of them so you can orer with confidence.

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
Did you send the email? I'm curious to see if/how they reply and how their customer service is. I am getting ready to buy another
ps for a new system for one of my kids.
My current 430 is working fine for almost 2 years this December.

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
The Antec True480 and our other power supplies will definitely work with the P180. The power supply's connectors should be long enough to reach your components. Please let us know if you need further information. Best regards.
SHOULD?!

Re: Antec P180 and Antec TruePower Supply
I think it "should" also reach but at least now you have it in writting from them. If it doesnt fit then I'm sure you can easily
do a return, but realistically there should be a way to get from them actual lengths or confirmation that it will fit. Maybe tech support?
