good books
unsure if this belongs here or over in developers...but rather than spam the board....
i am looking to purchase a couple of good books on the .NET framework, if they include vb examples then that's just icing on the cake so to speak.
I found one that i want to (and probalby will get) in search of the lost win32 api, .NET framework solutions. unless previously read opinion states that it's a waste of my hard earned sheckels (dollars for those of you in rio linda).
any suggestions?

Re: good books
I like "Lord of the Rings" and "Wrox Press Professional VB.NET"
But I like "Lord of the Rings" more... and while you're at it, get the H2G2 series.

MS Press - Applied Microsoft .NET Framework Programming (Jeffrey Richter, 2002).pdf
Not language specific (though where needed, C# is used), but gave me a good insight into the whole Framework and all that. It's really good, and you get a good shot at MSIL.
LOTR? They're nuts. FHM & Maxim is cheaper and much more educational.
