Coding Competition
I have a strong suspission this has been suggested before, but I thought it was worth bringing up.
I think it would be really cool to have a coding competition on the forums. Maybe one for VB and one for VB .NET. Each with levels.
A general problem could be presented instead of something specific. There could be multiple awards (cleanest code, fastest code, best design, smallest code). 1st 2nd 3rd place.
The awards could be either a special section in you profile showing the awards you've earned or maybe some rep points (in my opinion if you win an award that is worth rep points, unless rep points are meant to be totally user to user).
I know I am pretty new here, but I really love the community and all the helpful posters. I think this would really liven up the place.
What do you guys think?

- the cleanest code - what the heck is it ?
- the fastest code - it could be the slowest under sircumstances
- the best design - reminds me an Accademy Awards: not necessary best movie gets the Oscar ...
- the smallest code) - this could be the following:
VB Code:
Private Sub Main()
End ';-)
End Sub

- the cleanest code - easiest to read/most inventful
- the fastest code - pick a huge problem and test it under controlled circumstances
- the best design - have judges
- the smallest code) - these awards would be all for the same project: whoever could do it in the least lines or the smallest compiled file would get this.

Re: Coding Competition
Ok well I see a lot of cool suggestions in the Contest suggestion sticky post, but how do we go about getting on of those going? I read the FAQ, but do user submitted contests ever ACTAULLY happen? I really like the idea of a scripting program or a learn-to-type program.
Also I thing team projects would be good. Maybe easy medium and difficult projects or make a poject where a noob HAS to team up with an expert so that people mingle and meet new members. This also helps develop a better community.

MG ... you really are dreaming if you don't get the sarcasm - all of these contests are quite useless, though.
