Resolved Advanced Search - I have a problem with the "Some of the words are too common..." [R]

I have a problem with it in the sense that I dont like it.
A word that is critical for my search is getting excluded because it is too common (what decides that a certain word is common or not anyway?). The word is 'outside'. Is there a way to override this search characteristic?
If not, one should be made. It is too limiting.

The words in posts are counted and indexed amd so I assume that at some point they become "too common". You can search for outsid*

The words that are too common is listed in one of the files on the server. AFAIK it is a pre compiled list the vBulletin list have made. And only those that can update this forum can alter the list.

Thanks for the replies. The 'outsid*' worked!

It should also work with outsid_, but havn't tested it. That is the one letter wild card. And the * is the "many" letters wildcard.

I don't see it listed under the tutorial links in your signature. Where is it?

There is a standard that lists the words that are considered "common". This is a standard filtering list used by most search engines. I don't remember the name of the standard or the site that lists them; however, these are words that are considered too common in the English language to be of any value when searched upon. I've posted the link to the list in the past either here or on Codeguru.
