I am posting this in a new thread because Knight's original is too big!

Here's a history lesson for those of you who think Apple created the first GUI:

XEROX corporation, as I stated before, created the first **practical** GUI in 1970 with the XEROX ALTO. However, even Xerox can't take credit for the GUI... it was originally someone else's idea, but Xerox simply made it usable in every-day life.

Don't believe me?? See for yourself: http://www.applemuseum.seastar.net/sections/gui.html

Dude, what crawled up your butt? There is absolutely no need to get so anal about this. It's a trivial little piece of history. Most people know that Apple got the idea and the technology for their GUI from Xerox. But is it really that big of a deal? I think you've lost your focus here. This BB is for VB related questions, not for some arrogant little punk-ass like yourself who has to flip out over something so minor. Settle down and try to keep the posts to VB related subjects.

That's hardly 'flipping out'. I thought people might be interested in a little computer-related history since so many people had their facts wrong, in the other thread.
But if you were at all literate, maybe you could have followed along with the other thread. Too bad you're only capable of posting insults. It just shows your true age.

The fact that you got so hostile over my first post simply shows you're the one with a problem...get lost.

Actually Apple bought the GUI and "mouse" concepts from XEROX, so (legally speaking) Apple created and released the first computers with GUIs and mouses.

Brent, you are a true hippocrit. I'm not the one who had to go and make a new post over the issue. And who said anything about being literate? Now who's getting hostile.

Maybe Apple made it first to market, but Xerox pioneered it with their ALTO system, which was never mass-produced for the public. Too bad, cuz if they had, maybe people would be complaining about Xerox today, instead of MS. Now they're just a photocopier company (j/k...I'm sure there's more to 'em than that..?)

Ryan, did you think I was just gonna sit here while you called me names for no reason?? Re-read your first post to me if you don't think IT was hostile.

I never said it wasn't hostile, but I meant every word that I said and I'm not going to take it back if that's what you're getting at. I think it completely pointless to start this post.

Seriously, who cares? It was made. If they didn't someone else probably would.

Flaming me like that was totally out of line.

I don't need an apology from you, especially cuz I don't think you're man enough to give it (for that matter, you're obviously not even old enough to be a man...).

Just go away and drop this thread.

Ok, fine, I'll drop it, but it's just so funny to me. I mean, seriously, you should read back over your messages, because you really look like an idiot. First you criticize me for "flaming" you and then that's all you do in every single post after that. It's really quite hilarious. Although, I must admit, it was very fun getting you all riled up like that. And just in case you're wondering, I'm 18 years old. So you can think whatever you want of me because of my age, but there's nothing more childish than making fun of soemthing you do not understand, or in this case trying to tear down aspects of my personality that you have never seen.

That's right, after listening to you scream obscenities at me, I take it personally (as anyone would). Guess I'm not the only one who looks like an idiot, then.

Thanks for the info Brent. But the language could have been curved a bit budd.

As to Apple, yea, they bought it like MS did DOS, but they went down in History as being the First TRUE "Windows Like" Envireontment Just like MS is in History as the first DOS. So what I said in my other message, is accurate.

Have you seen "The pirates of Silicon Valley." Watch it and stop arguing. Also, from a 3rd person point of view, I'd have to say Brent started off well, but should have ignored Gimpster, who seemed to be provoking a fight. Nyah, it doesn't matter anyway.

We should all be nice to each other because we don't know who has the answer to our next question.
