is this a ups prob??!?!?
hi all!!
everytime there is a electricity fluctuation, my computer goes to stand-by mode automatically.......... a friend of mine said that there is a problem with my ups.
but it supports my computer whenever there is a power failure. though i got the ups changed, only the chances of my computer going to stand-by mode reduced but the problem is still there.
wot could be the problem??

try this:
Start>Control Panel>Display>Screen Saver>Power (button)>UPS (tab)>(try changing the settings, or even disabling the ups)

Your UPS isn't quick enough to catch the fluctuation. Try a different UPS.

this one is a new ups..........it worked well for my friends without any problem.
can there be any defect in computer wirings, or maybe in SMPS, or maybe in my house's wiring?

Re: is this a ups prob??!?!?
My friend has the same problem. Everytime the refrigerator would kick in, the computer upstairs would reboot. The one in the basement was fine, though. I think the new one had a bigger power supply. He ended up getting two UPS's as they had a 2 for 1 sale, and the problem went away.
Sounds like the same thing. Your house wiring is not up to standards for the power that is being drawn. Maybe the UPS can't handle the power load of your computer? Otherwise, it takes too long of an outage before it kicks in.
