    text file issue

I have had this issue a little while, but its starting to bother me now.

For some reason, I can't delete text files off my PC. It says they are in use by another person/process

I have done all the obvious things, like run ad-aware and norton to check for anything malicious. I also booted to safe mode, and i still was not able to do it. I think maybe something in windows got screwed up. I was finally able to delete some of the text files i was trying to by booting from the XP cd, and using the recovery console to manually delete files via the command prompt.

Some I could not delete however as it would not let me navigate to the documents and settings folder from the recovery console (or i was doing it wrong)

anyway, has anyone heard of this issue? its really weird, lets say i right click on my desktop, and select new -> text document, it makes "New Text Document 1.txt" on my desktop and its highlighted to rename it. If I try to rename it, it gives me the error right away that the file is already in use. Same happens if i type text in it and try to save it.

Is it only .txt files? if so, what app is assosiated with .txt files. Try to change it to an other app if possible.

notepad is. I ended up fixing this (without ever solving the problem though)

I did ctrl+alt+del and ended the explorer.exe process, i then did run new task from there and did cmd and deleted the files via the command prompt. for some reason, explorer was locking them. I think one text file might have been screwing everything up.. because now that i deleted the original file i was having problems with, everything else was able to be deleted. You know like if you kill the head zombie, all the other zombies will either turn back to normal.. or just drop dead (umm again?)
