PC Sometimes Hangs on Boot-up
On the morning when i start my pc for the first time, 7 times out of 10 it hangs on the part where it says "Starting windows", and the blue Welcome screen part.
Usually i restart the pc and it works ok, why does it hang like this?
XP Pro, SP2

Re: PC Sometimes Hangs on Boot-up
hmmm... sounds like either a bug in windows (unlikley) or some app is hanging it up.
a few things i would try:
CHKDSK, it may be as stupid as a bad sector, that only can read somthims (unlikly) or an app only calls for it once in a while.
disable the stuff you never use in "start>run>'msconfig'", pay more attension to the stuff that is not in the "startup" tab, it is mostlikly a problem with a driver, system.ini, or Win.ini file, or maybe even a service. (be verry carefull, you may accedently disable somthing you need, causing your computer to not start) RESTORE before trying this!!!
try uninstalling all apps (including SP2) make a backup of all your (needed) data, then try installing them again (install SP2 first).
last thing, backup, then try REINSTALLING windows (not format, unless you want to), but you may not beable to do that depending on what type of disk you have (disk that came with your CP or a disk that you bought)
