Change in Google search engine? [RESOLVED]
I just notice this today, when I do a search on Google I get some false looking results. At first I thought some spyware/hijacker could be modifying the search results. Then I notice that when I go to the second page of results everything is fine. Now I think that the first page could be advertisements.
Anyone else have any info on this?

Re: Change in Google search engine?
It's not normal, when I go to the second page it is normal. It sometimes shows only one result on the first page. But in most cases it has no relevance to the search string.

Re: Change in Google search engine?
That does look like spyware or adware of some kind to me. Actually the fact you are not aware of its existance probably makes it a tojan. Have a look at your hosts file, I'll also see if I can dig something up.

Re: Change in Google search engine?
The hosts file is empty (default). I have installed SpyBot S&D, it reported nothing, I have updated Kaspersky AV and scanned, it found some minor stuff, but it did not change the behavior.
I recently caught a virus (trojan) which changed my desktop wallpaper to the blue screen of death with a message:
"Error caused in IE... some VXD.... caused by trojan-spy.html.smitfraud.c
System cannot function in normal mode ....."
stuff like that. After that I scanned with kaspersky, which did not help. I then searched on the net and found a manual solution which did work.
After the fix I installed SP2 (I had SP1).

Re: Change in Google search engine?
Finally, I used LSPFix to remove instances of the flsmngr.dll, which was causing the problem.
Thanks everyone for the help.
