Re: Windows Installer when opening vb/office apps
The problem comes from not installing Office for all users or installing some features and components "On First Use" only. So
when you try to use it a feature for the first time you need to install the supporting files from the Office CD. If you didnt install for all
users or install all files for features then you will continue to get the prompts until you install them.

Re: Windows Installer when opening vb/office apps
i have actually had almost that exact same thing happen too me... (i counldt run my (pirated) version of office 2000 or my (true) version of VS.NET 2003 and VS6).
so i finally found the problem... it was a bad sector on my hard drive. i ran a scandisk/chkdisk and then reinstalled Office and it never asked me again.
try that and tell us if that works

Re: Windows Installer when opening vb/office apps
I had a problem like this. Every time I try to start an application which uses a vb component (I think it was mscomctl.ocx) an installer starts. In my case it was the installer for the Pioneer OEL Studio (for my car stereo).
I found that the problem was that an installer I made for my app, I did not use a redistributable version of the mentioned component, instead I used the one from my System folder. And when I ran the installer that porblem occured. Unfortunatelly I had to reinstall windows to get rid of it.
