Finally rid of Norton 2004 produts...
Ok, so i have been looking for a way to get rid of the blasted Norton products on my PC as they did not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list under the control panel.
So, i looked for an uninstaller in the usual directories but to no avail, i then looked it up on the Norton site and luckily found something called symNRT.exe to uninstall the out of date software, which happened to be the cause of my system lag (ouch)
Now i am looking for a replacement thats free to tackle my problems, i use firefox more than IE, yet my IE still holds out against most spyware.
I have AVG 7.0 Free, which has ceased to update since last night (keeps getting a rejectedconnection from th update site at grisoft, happens with my mates since y'day as well) i have Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta as well.
I know they won;t be enough on their own so what can you suggest ?

norton corporate v9 is good
doesnt install too much junk and you can avoid running it in the background and still be able to scan your files once in a while

Well, I picked an unconventional way to remove 2004. FORMAT!!!
I feel naked without it, but I can't believe how fast this thing reboots with no programs installed. Might be worthwhile keepng it this way.
Doubled the size of my HD, so it's not all bad. Hope I'm not sorry making a 10G partition as primary, though. Think I can still resize it if I have to.
Someone let me know. I had a 30g, now it's 57g. Don't know how.
Is 10G too small for the OS?

Is 10G too small for the OS? SP2 brings it up to 4.4G

Probably not too small if you ask me, i think you could always use a program like Partition Magic if needbe.
For the moment i have enlisted Avast4 seems to work nicely, has decent scan times and doesn't lag my machine

I like Avast. Wonder what that guy had against it? He seems to be all NAV.
I liked that Avast doesn't tie up my system. It even found an old trojan in a zip file, and prevented the download of one today that NAV didn't catch a few months ago, possible because it wasn't there, though.
That's a nice link, though. I didn't know that there were so many choices out there, having used NAV for the past 5 years or so without incident.

Comparing Avast and AVG, which do you think is better? Just installed Avast, it seems great.
