check mdac version you are using on win98 and make sure you install the same version on win2k/xp.

How are you connecting to your SQL server? ADO, ODBC, etc.

    Re: ERROR:cannot open sql server

How did you establish the connection when creating the report? Did you use NT Authentication, or a SQL Server login?

IF you are using sa no password (that's dangerous) then it's SQL Authentication, not Windows.

    Re: ERROR:cannot open sql server

I think we are getting confused here, "windows authentification using a blank paawords and sa as username in windows 98"

Windows Authentication is when SQL takes your Windows NT Username and Password and "trusts" you to log in to SQL. SQL Authentication is when
you enter a separate username and password, even if the password is blank.

    Re: ERROR:cannot open sql server

One thought is if you are using ODBC (for whatever reason) to connect to your SQL server, you may be missing the DSN on the other machines.
