That generally wouldn't work. A few people come to mind that have offered money to fix something. I took a guy up on a request to fix something for $100
if it could be done within a few hours. I sent it to him and he then changed the specs.
Then, before I sent the new one to him, he disappeared. When he finally surfaced, he asked if I would take $50. I'm still waiting for it.


Someone else fixed something for a $5 fee, knowing that he was in Sweden.


Now, if you were to give away some of your own points, that might be cool.

Maybe VBF will start selling REQUEST POINTS. As long as they also cash them in.

If we did that then you may as well change their name to Rep Dollars. If we start allowing people to "sell" reputation points then they will not adequately reflect peoples reputations.

There are umpteen vBulletin, IPB, phpBB etc. mods for this sort of thing. IMO it's not in the best interest of the forum to have it. The reputations are there to indicate how good a programmer each member is. If you have a certain number of rep points and you give some to someone else cos they helped you, does it make you a worse programmer because you have lost some of your own rep points?

A reputation has to be earned in life as well as on the Forums. If members trade them or buy them then that defeats the meaning of them.

The whole point of reputation is to be earned and not traded where as a money hack is meant for buying selling and trading

OR, have contests to win small prizes based on a months worth of rep points...nah, that wouldn't work cause someone who DOES deserve points may never receive them and vice versa.
