    Customized User Title

When does a member get the chance to modify his Title to his/her preference? I have seen some User Titles which I think has been modified to the member's preference.... I am thinking and if I'll be allowed I long to change my title to something like "Iloco's Pride".....

I think it comes with post count. I am not sure what number you have to reach, I think it is 4.000 posts.

You become a PowerPoster with 2,048 posts and then you have the option to change your title.

That's correct, 2048 posts (not including chit chat) for a customizable title. It goes by the powers of 2 around here.

Yes, they go by RAM increments starting at 32, if i remember correctly, doubling each time. I guess the developers at
vBulletin (I think) thought that programmers would be able to relate them?

We used to have the custom title permission set at 4096 but it was changed to 2048. 4096 may be used for some other
permission or elevated feature later on.

Here is a list of the rankings

I don't know how on earth it happened but I think I have seen a couple of members with 40-odd posts whos titles were still "New Member"... but I might have been wrong.

It's set on a per-forum basis. Here's the thread where it was announced (although it has changed slightly since). Apparently the binary system was kedaman's idea.

Thats some good searching there penegate. on finding that thread. I'm glad I added the "I think" clause in my posts.

If I get bored again (probably will) I'm going to change it again. Already been thinking about it. This one was just something to do.

Even if a member is not a moderator or admin but he/she has reached the required count to customize his/her title is he/she allowed to make it "Moderator" or "Admin"?

Nope, there are filters for that just like the rude words filter.

Not that hard to get around, but I'm fairly sure your not supposed to do it (I was enjoying the Banned custom title for a while. ). Actually though it wouldn't be all that hard to block against that completely....but oh well.

You can get around all the filters but Brad said evading the word filter is something that can get you banned.

    Re: Customized User Title

That is true. Trying to avoid any check on this forum by using a small "hack" is considered bad, and will be handled as we feel is propriate. As long as there is a filter, or any other limit to what you can do, it is a violation to this board and it's AUP to bypass it. No matter how tempting it is.

    Re: Customized User Title

Are Guests allowed to post in VBForums? I think I have seen some post with a title of Guest and post count as n/a... Or did they deliberately changed their title to Guest? If they did how about their post count? Why is it n/a?

    Re: Customized User Title

At one time guests were allowed to post, I'd imagine, but the option was turned off long before I got here. Hard to ban someone if they can log on as guest.

People who have lost their accounts for whatever reason show up as guests, but I don't think guests were ever allowed to post.

    Re: Customized User Title

penagate is correct. There was a database failure 2 or 3 years ago (before JupiterMedia took over the site), which effectively lost members or the link from members to their posts.

Any posts which aren't linked to members anymore show the member status as Guest (but for some reason keep the members name). I was one of people who "lost" posts, this is one of them.

Additionally - If a user ID is deleted that had posts attached to it, then those posts can either be removed from the system or left. If they are left, they are changed to 'guest' posts.
