About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
I don't know about you, but when I try to enter in the thread to view what's new, it takes an eternety !
Since i'm subscribed to the thread, I can see in CP that someone posted in it, but I clicked on the link and I waited for at least a minute, and nothing... I tried couple of times. Any other thread goes in right away...
I think it's because the VBForums server it's formating the [ vbcode ] tags, and there are lots in that thread. Maybe we should change it to simple [ code ] tag, to make it faster (if it actually works) ?

Re: About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
I waited for 4 minutes when I gave up...
Maybe there's something wrong with the computer i'm using (i'm at work), I'll be home in ~25 minutes, I'll check again on my home computer.
But still, it does not make sence for the computer I'm using now, not to work only when I go to that thread...

Re: About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
OK, On my home computer it takes about 15 seconds... (on 4MBit connection), don't know what speed I have at work, I just know it's DSL
The CPU at work is actually 400MHz faster than my home computer, so it must be some software problem then...

We have a T1 at work, but actual throughput sometimes drops into the range of last generation dial-up modems. Just because you have DSL at work won't mean much if a bunch of people are sharing the bandwidth.

Could it be a firewall problem of some sort? My connection is 1MB DSL.

Re: About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
Same here.
I get about the same speed as you also.
Could it be some sot of filterting / content blocking software? Out school has somehting like that and it slows it down a lot.
Or, it could be a firewall as MartinLiss suggested

OK, I think we have enough testaments as to the loading speed.

Re: About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
But still... why only that thread ?
[edit]
At work (where it did not load), I don't have any firewall installed on the computer, from the internet modem goes to router then through a hub, then my computer, that's it...
And at home I have a phisical router with firewall integrated + software firewall

Re: About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
True, if it is just that thread, then my suggestion would not apply. That strongly suggests that you have filtering software that is interacting poorly with something in that thread. Martin may have some suggestion as to what it is, but there may be no solution.
The filtering software we have at work would be scanning for anything that looked like an .exe, and deleting it. Perhaps there is something attached to that thread (like the snake game, or something) that takes more interpretation by the filter.

Re: About the thread: Frequently Asked VB Questions
I don't have any filtering software, I have Norton AntiVirus, that's about it...
I can use the internet without any problem, I can go to any page on the net I want... (except that thread )
To me, it looks like it's a server thing. But then again, why it does not happen to everyone ?
Anyways, since a new forum will be made regarding VB FAQ (from the private message we all received), we won't update/add anything in that thread.
