Off topic post deleted
It was posted in this thread under #96 ...
WHY ??? There are thousands off topics out there and I don't believe any of them are getting erased. So what's the problem ... can't we have a little fun anymore? Or is it only Mid$, Left$ and such expected ?

Re: Off topic post deleted
I deleted your post because it was one of several that were making a long thread even longer and I deleted it as a favor to others trying to wade through the thread. As far as there being "There are thousands off topics" that's probably true but we (the moderators) try to keep them to a minimum and we do delete a lot of them.

You know Martin ... I don't even know how to respond to what you just said.
My post was neither offencive nor it was malicious of any kind - it had a simple statistics. That's all. And you managed to get rid of it.
THANKS ALOT. Keep up the good work!

Re: Off topic post deleted
I've obviously upset you and I apologize for that but I never said your post was either offensive or malicious.

Re: Off topic post deleted
I agree that offensive posts should be deleted. Regarding off topic posts, they should be periodically deleted, but only if it does not affect (damage) the context of the thread. Also, deleting them should be delayed, wait until the thread becomes inactive so people dont get offended because their posts are deleted.

We aren't talking about offensive posts here because it's a given that they will be deleted. What we are talking about is chit chat posts which have nothing to do with the topic of the thread. There is no reason to delay their deletion because they don't belong in the thread in the first place. A typical example of a chit chat post would be one that said something like "Hey dude I like your avatar". In Rhino's case it was "OFF TOPIC: relatively simple task takes one week, 96 replies, almost 1000 viewers ... and it keeps growing ... it really is amazing." which while true it only served to make the thread even longer. If I left things like that then I'd expect that someone would post "Look it's now 187!!!".
